Don't know if this has been covered before.
Why do certain applications e.g Videowave want to connect to the Internet every time they open?
What will happen if I block access in my Firewall?
Brian.

I'm not positive but it might be due to the fact that Videowave and MyDVD have mpeg activation and may need to connect.  I use Zone Alarm and I don't get asked for permission but then again, I did activate.  Did you?

I activated when prompted.

What the worst that can happen if I don't grant permission?

If you don't allow it to connect to the internet?  Not sure, VW may not start.  Try it and see.

Tried it and VW opened ok.

(Still don't know why it keeps trying to connect though).

Guess it's homesick and just likes to phone home often!
