Hi
I was given a 3minute vcd video of my nephew playing drums in a music event. This video is 3min 45sec long and 42 mb in size.
I thought it would be interesting to convert this to play on a video iPod. So just for the exercise, I tried the conversion option of the "disc copier".
To begin with, the video "file" was named AVSEQ01.DAT. I guessed that this was the video file based on its 42+mb flle size. WMP would not play this file as the "DAT" extension was not recognised (obvious really). I copied the file and changed the extension, purely by taking a "pot luck" approach, to AVI. This worked - at least WMP would play the video, including sound. So I guess this VCD is in the AVI format.
The conversion to iPod format took a while. The nett result was an iPod video (I hope) as I do not have a player on which to try it, of 172+ mb. That is MORE THAN 4 times the size of the original file of 42 mb.
Is this file size correct?
The iPoD video display is ONLY 320x240 in size!

Peter
