Hello,
I have used EMC since version 4. With each revision I pony up the required cash.
For the last several versions no matter how much computer I throw at EMC I still am not happy. 3.4 945 2gb SATA 3.0 HDD. In every part of the program my computer freezes. I have incompatiblity with older projects. Very very slow. For example the wife says where are the Xmas CD's. I roll my eyes and say they should be where you put them last. Anyway they can't be found. I go to make more from my saved projects and I get an error. Then I say I will start from scratch and all the program does in Classic mode is go absolutely as slow as my 286 with 4 mb running windows 1.0.
I am frustrated.

Does this happen to anyone else? Slow, freeze, must reboot...

How about a few more details about your other software and especially the othet hardware you are using. You can add this information by opening up "My Controls" at the top od any forum listing and add this information to your signature. There just might be some of that information that could help others solve why you are having so many problems.

That's a nice setup you have and one that should not give you any problems with EMC 9. I assume that you have all of the latest drivers and firmware for your drives. Also you might want to check "DEFRAG" status on the computer to see how scrambled all of your folders and files are for your hard drives. Have you gone to "Control Panel" -- "Add/Remove Programs" and tried removing your program and then re-installing it again ?
Sure sounds to me like there is another program or something that is interferring with your EMC 9 programs. There have been a lot of OP's sending in posts, where they have IE7 running on their computer and still running EMC 7 version. That won't work as IE7 pretty much kills EMC7. On the other hand if you have EMC 9, then you should be O.K even if you are running IE7.
If you have the original program and content discs for your EMC 9, I suggest you try uninstalling it and then re-installing it again. Run the program CD first, then re-boot and run the Content CD.

In addition to what Frank said - have you run a malware check? I'd recommend Adaware and/or Spybot S&D (both free to download)

It's possible you have picked up some spyware from browsing and this can slow down a computer.
Also, try to stop any background programs from running (alt-ctrl-del will bring up Task Manager and you can shut down stuff from there)

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
