Hi guys

I was able to burn a number of CDs with no problems, but I am having problems with the DVDs. When I open MyDVD Express and click "Add New Movie" my movies do show up, but I can not open them. I attached a screen shot- the movie on the left was downloaded, the right is a home movie.

I do not understand why I am getting this. How do I fix it so I can burn these?

Thanks in advance

Amanda

What type of files are these?  Perhaps divx or xvid and you don't have the correct codecs.  You can give Gspot a shot and it'll tell you what codecs you need and have on your system.
Just curious, why use MyDVD Express? MyDVD gives you  more control.

They are avi files. I will try the link provided and see if that helps.

DVD Express was what opened, so thats what I used. I did try MyDVD too, neither worked

Amanda,
The downloaded one on the left.  If it's the same one I'm thinking of.
Dazed and Confused, Jake Holmes, Jimmy Page, The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin about 1967 I think.

Being a downloaded video that could be the problem with that one.
Give media import a shot with both.

This is what I got from your link

GSpot was unable to find a suitable codec installed, indicating that this media file not likely playable on this O/S at this time. To be able to play this media file, attempt to locate a suitable codec based on the Format and 4CC given above. Install the codec and then test again with GSpot after the codec has been installed.

and.........

Audio Format:
Code: 0x0055
Name: WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3 (MP3)
Vendor: ISO/MPEG

The following codecs all claim to be capable of processing this format:

--> {Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (advanced)}
      {ffdshow Audio Decoder}
--> {MPEG Layer-3 Decoder}

DirectShow was also able to find a codec to render it - the sound for this media clip should work fine.

See the DirectShow Render details for more info.

So where would I get what I need?

Glad it did it for you - it's not a bad codec collection (and gets updated reasonably regularly)
