I have EMC8 fully installed, yet every time I boot up Windows Instaler keeps trying to reinstall reinstall the program finally getting to a point where its looking for pft64.tmp in my Local/Temp file, which isn't there and so it stalls. I have to click Cancel 6 times with every bootup, and to click cancel because opening two different and unrelated programs causes it to try to reinstall. The same happens when I open EMC which, by the way works fine otherwise. Any advice on stopping this will be much appreciated.

Two things you can try
1: Go to add/remove programs and try a repair installation
2: uninstall the program and re-install
It sounds as if one of the files has become corrupted or is missing and may need to be re-installed

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
