I've been trying to create 3 dvd photoslide shows for Christmas gifts for about 2 weeks now. I trouble at first and found my problems and corrected by display drivers and then replaced my dvd drive as well. Videowave was finally working correctly and I got one project completed and burned to dvd. Then I worked until 2a last night and got the second project totally created and got the mpeg2 activation error. I tried everything I read in these forums...I tried to unplug my modem and do the manual off-line activation and could not get the 25 digit product key. Since nothing else worked, I reluctantly opted for the uninstall/reinstall option. I should have known, if the software was so crappy - that this was not a wise choice!!! So now, I've uninstalled all Roxio software and my computer doesn't recognize either of my cd/dvd drives and won't let me reinstall them either. I tried to call tech support earlier today and they were closed for a holiday party. I've been trying to fix and use this software for 12 hours today - I'm exhausted - frustrated - and ready for a refund...and perhaps repair and replacement of my computer courtesy of Roxio!!!! Can someone please help me? Before Christmas?

Losing the drives is a well known WINDOWS problem. Go to Microsoft's knowledge base and search there.
When you got the MPEG activation error, how many times did you try through the net? Sometimes the server may time out for lots of reasons.

Thanks for the help...I've recovered from this little mishap...drives are back and I've now reinstalled the EMC9 software...however, I am still getting the same mpeg2 activation error "no permission - bad install". I've wasted an ENTIRE day on this! I've tried online and off line activation numerous times today and still can't get activated...but at least I got it reinstalled now. Any other suggestions? I'd really like to get these projects to dvd before Christmas.

Go to the ACTIVATION forum. There are several threads on this topic. I'm not sure what is causing the "no permission - bad install".
