I am using EMC v8.x and Microsoft PictureIt v(?).  I have created several slide shows in the past and created DVD's to share with friends and family.

Last night I was setting up a slide show (154 pictures) and ran into an issue where some of the pictures loaded into the storyboard and others won't.

I noticed that the pictures taken with my old Camedia 3.3 megapixel camera load-- as they did in the past-- without issue, the pictures taken with my Nikon D-50 6 megapixel camera will not.

I wonder if it is the megapixels because I've resized all the pictures so they are about the same size.  I am not at home right now to test the megapixel theory.

Has anyone exprienced this issue or something similar?

The pixel size has nothing to do with it. I do know that sometimes there can be a conflict between Micrsoft editing software and Roxio. Try opening one of the pictures in Photosuite, make a small change, like a small crop, and save it, see if that is accepted ok.

Patty, thank you for the response.

I'm not sure it is the Microsoft software because I've used it in the past and never had a problem in regards to compatablity with Roxio.  I 've created slide shows and converted digital tapes to DVD's and inserted title pages created in PictureIt without issue.

Could it be the Nikon process for capturing images to the camera?

"Could it be the Nikon process for capturing images to the camera?"

That's a very good possibility. I have a friend that lives in England and had sent me some photos that he had taken with his digital camera (not sure what brand) and although I could see them all O.K. in XP, they would not work with my Roxio EMC 7.5 when I tried bringing them into Videowave, for a slide show production, until I modified them. Which is what Patty is suggesting (I think) :)

Frank and Patty--- somehow that sounds like a set up---

Thank you for the help.  I went into Photosuite and, using Multiphoto Enhance, the FIX option, got the photos in such a format as to be recognized by the Slideshow creator as well as Photosuite. At first, Photosuite wouldn't open any of the files either.  I had to run them through the FIX option before they could be used.

I still don't understand what the issue is, but there is definately a compatability problem.

Anyway, thank you for your assistance.  If anyone else has knowledge or exprience with this or a similar problem, I'd really like to hear about it.

This post is pinned to the top of the general board.  I bet this is the issue.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I will give the patch a try.

After I posted my reply about Slideshow recognizing the .jpg's after running them through the editors FIX, I discovered the photo's were by and large ruined by changes in contrast an color balance.  These "FIXes" were not minor either.

UPDATE:

I downloaded the patch and loaded it.  It did not help.  Interestingly, when I loaded it on my Dad's PC, it did work.  Go figure.

I have discovered that if I use the import photo feature in EMC, then the photo's are useable in both Photo Suite and Slideshow.  I suspect they will be useable in Roxio in general.

I had been using XP to simply drag and drop from the camera to a folder in My Pictures-- a procedure I had been using for years.  Using Roxio is an extra step, but if it works, it works.
