Has anyone heard of this Roxio Easy CD & DVD burning product? I just saw it at an Office Depot store.
On the back of the box there is note that says:
IMPORTANT:Note to existing Roxio customers. This software was originally called Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator "6".
The side of the box says under Contents:
Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 Platinum software including:
Disc Copier
Audio Control
DVD Builder
Photo Suite
Creator Classic
Drag to Disc
Label Creator
Digital Media Services
Tutorial
Getting Started Guide
So I came home and did a google serch for the product. The results were not good.
One post complained that the product wasn't even on the Roxio site. It isn't on the site, but if it's v6 Platinum, you wouldn't expect it to be.
One post complained that since the product isn't even in the drop down registration list, that you can't register it or get support for it. If it is v6 Platinum, you should be able to register it under that product shouldn't you?
Complaints about installing the program and the program losing data, ect.
Can anyone tell me if this product really is ECD & DVD Creator 6 Platinum? If so when did Roxio start boxing it as Easy CD & DVD Burning? I'm asking because my computer came with an OEM version of ECD Creator (5.2.? upgraded to 5.3.5.10) installed and while I don't want or need the features of the Easy Media Creator products, I did want a version of ECD Creator with more features than the OEM version came with and v6Platinum was what I was looking for, but I figured it was long gone.
Does anyone have any info on this product?
Thanks
JC

Yes, it is as it states, ECDC 6 Platinum. I have seen this box in retail stores and while Roxio doesn't mention it on the site, it is a supported Retail product.
I think they are putting it out there for two reasons. One is address the dwindling Win9x/NT systems still out there. The other it to have a cheap product to address those in the market for a simple low end software.
Keep in mind that no update has been written since 2004 and it is unlikely any will be written for V6.

James,
Thanks for the reply.
I know it's an old version. I just wanted something with a few more features than the 5.3.5.10 I have now.
I know this should probably be posted in the Installation board, but since I'm already here..... Should I uninstall the prev. version listed above before installing v6 Platinum?
Also, do you(or does anyone) know why the supported drives page won't load? I get a page saying the requested page couldn't be found. The reason listed is "The request timed out"
Thanks

Don't know about the 'drives' page but it has become obsolete when V6 was introduced.
Starting in V6 something called dynamic drive detection came into use. The software queries the drive for its' capabilities and acts accordingly.
Not all drives met this standard at the time v6 was introduced so it also contains a drive list for older drives. If the drive is less than about 3 years old it should not be a problem.

Yes, uninstall it first with add/remove, and then use roxizap - the URL is in the FREQUENT ANSWERS post attached at the top of the postings.
