Just got a call from the replication plant. They can't use my master as it is a multi-session disc as opposed to a disc-at -once. I used the 'burn disc' option. If this is not correct which one should I use?

Thanks.

kris,

that should not be the case, but try to output an Image of your project and then burn a disc from that ISO image and then send it off to them. What kind of DVD burner do you have?

Hi Scott,

I know, it's weird. The discs will play on my DVD player and a variety of others too. The plant said that the disc was written as a multi session disc, rather than a disc at once. So I've created a .iso file and burnt that. Sending off to the plant now so we'll see what happens.

Burner is a SONY DVD-RW DW-D26A. It's in a BOXX PC.

Is there a disc at once option somewhere in DVDit? Using pro hd now.

The plant called again this morning. The disc has been rejected again, for the same reasons, multi session disc instead of disc at once. This time I burnt a disc image, creating a .iso file and then burnt it to dvd from there with the disc at once option selected. They are now ripping the project to repair the errors, which is now costing me money.

They are testing with software called Eclipse and another piece of software which I can't remember the name of. They are faxing me the full error report which I will forward to Roxio.

This is completely unacceptable. I am totally red-faced in front of my client. I do not purchase software to be a company's beta tester. Roxio, I need this addressed and I need it done soon.

Kris,

I do not know why your discs are reporting as open. The ones that I create with DVDit Pro are closed (I have a HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N drive). The ones we create in QA are also closed. Could be multiple authoring solutions on the same computer causing an issue. Could be the media you are using. could be a firmware issue with your drive. Those are guesses.

Couple of additional things you can try here:

1) download CD/DVD speed from here http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
It is a free utility and it is helpful in checking the integrity of not only your burned discs, but your blank media. under the Disc info tab of the application it will tell you whether the discs that you burn are "open" or "closed". You can burn an image to a disc with the application and see if that one is closed.

2) download Image Burn from here http://www.imgburn.com/ and try to burn your image to disc with that tool. Test the output in DVD speed.

Please let us know if the image you burn with Image Burn or DVD Speed is closed.
