I installed My DVD 8 and now I can't play DVD's in Media Player 11. I installed a Microsoft Video Decoder Checkup Utility and it comes up with 4 Roxio Decoders that are all incompatable with Media Player 11. I previously used Intervideo X pak plug in and had no issues. I tried to reinstall X pak and the install utility said their was a decoder conflict, I cancelled the install. My DVD8 seems to work ok but seems to be extremely slow. I did burn a Windows Movie Maker project Successfully now all I have to do is get playback capability back in my Media Player 11

Media Player 11 has caused problems for many and I can only suggest rolling back to 9 or 10.  MS seems to want to take control of everything when installing MP11.  While I can play DVD's in 11, there are some files that no longer work well for me in 11.

I had another problem with WMP 11 and Sonic DigitalMedia (Roxio).  Everytime I closed the Roxio application I got three error messages.  Prior to this problem appearing I had installed several things and by process of elimination discoved that WMP 11 was the culprit.  I returned to WMP 10 and error messages went away.  I have a desktop pavillion HP only a month old.

Why some have problems and others don't I don't know.  It might be something on their systems that conflict with WMP11 and in turn, it causes problems wtih MyDVD.  There's really nothing in 11 that you can't get in 10 or even 9. Plus, there's so many alternatives that it's not worth the trouble of keeping 11 on your system if it's causing trouble.
