Was doing some experimentation with analog MPEG-2 capture, with ATI TV Wonder Elite capture card (not new). I noticed that the file sizes shown in Windows explorer were from 2-3 time the size reported by EMC 9 at the end of the import/capture (just as I clicked on stop). This seems to happen no matter what capture quality I choose (4, 6 or 8 Mbps). And these sizes seem to be also about twice the size I get using VideoStudio 10 as capture with similar capture settings.

PC is a Dell P4 3Ghz, 1 G RAM, 250 G HD (~70 G free). No other applications running during these tests.
And no, I haven't started new years celebrations yet  :) .

Wonder if anyone else has seen this.
Thanks!

Since File Size is a useless measure in video work I wouldn't waste a lot of time on this…

Video is measured in Time. Time coupled with output quality is what determines if it will fit on your media.
