I have tried to install EMC9 about 5 times now. Everytime it goes through the process like it is installing... then when it is done the installation wizard says that the installation was interrupted!!!!! I have not done anything with the computer while it is installing. I don't know why it says that.

Any suggestions... please help!!!

Have you run adaware or spybot prior to the install (sometimes malware sneaks in and can interrupt the process)

As well as that - shut down any running processes (IMs and so on)

Also - disable your anti-virus before installing (disconnect from the internet first) and restart it after the install

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried all of that and still continue to have the problem. I did try to install other software and had no problem at all. I don't know what else to do!!! :)

Try this - if you're running from a CD, make a folder on the desktop and copy all the CD contents to that and then run setup.exe from there

If it's the download version, you need to extract the files from that (use winrar or winzip - it's a self-extracting archive file) and try running setup.exe
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

The only thing that downloads when I install EMC9 is the "drag-to-disc". I removed that and the installation is still interrupted.

I have noticed during installation that a "setup" window is open that says "please wait while setup loads".

Maybe that is interrupting the installation. Is that window suppose to be open? If not, then how can I close it?

Sounds like you may have firewall or blocker stopper installation. Do you have Norton Internet Security or Macafee that might be blocking the install? Are you installing in Admin mode or as a regular user?
It's odd how only Drag to Disc installs. What other software do you have installed on your system that is similar?
Also, please post your system specs like below my name and Daithi's name as it may help us figure this out.

No, I have tried to install it with my antivirus off. I am installing in Admin mode.

Does my version of Windows not support it? I saw that I have service pack 1, on the software box it shows system requirements as service pack 2???

:)

Ah, yes, never even thought of that. Yes, certain parts of EMC9 will not work with SP2. Actually, you should update it for safety reasons anyway.

Err Paul - shouldn't that read 'Service Pack 1' ? :)

But of course. Never was good in math. :)
In order to run the full suite, you NEED SP2 installed. My apologies for the confusion that I can't blame on a typo but poor reading habits.

go to start, windows update and let it install SP2.

It may try to install Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11 as well - try to block that if at all possible

Or visit Service Pack 2 site. As Daithi said, be careful what else you install. Let's just do an SP2 update for now then you can update other items needed later.

Note to Daithi: Guiness it is but I hope you don't drink alone as I only buy for others when I can treat myself. :)
