I have Easy CD/DVD Creator Version 6 right now which was a holdover from an earlier computer. I just got a new Dell which came with a TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW DL (Double layer) Model TS-H553A optical drive. I'm told that this is the same as a Samsung Model SH-W163A. Anyway, my older program, even with the latest 6.1 software update, only recognizes the Double Layer disc as a standard 4.7GB DVD. At $5 apiece for these Double Layer discs and $70 for Version 9 of the program, I would hate to upgrade and find out I'm no better off. Is there any way to find out if EMC9 will write to these double layer discs ?

Check the EMC 9 Trial forum for a 30 day trial
But yes, EMC9 uses dynamic detection via the drive firmware to check on the disc (there's a small track read by the drive which gives the burn speed, type and so on)

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
