Getting strange inconsistant application responses. Latest is that I get a 0x130c000a error message when burning a DVD. I have added movies, deleted them, rebooted in an attempt to be able to write or BURN to a dvd.  It was OK earlier this am and yesterday although I had other problems.
Application says it's "initializing" but the when shortly after it produces the error.  It never seems to write anything to the disk and yes, i keep changing the disks (which were working)

Generally that write error is down failure of the disc to burn rather than software

A common cause is bad media - try a different brand

Less likely is a dirty lens on the laser - or again the drive may be on the way to that great recycling bin in the sky

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Thanks gi7omy but the drive works with other programs before and now.  The media is ok too.   Perhaps i have a bad install.  I've had nothing but quirky results from EMC9.

OK - one further possibility - did you upgrade the drive firmware?

That has also been known to cause that error (out of date firmware)

Yes I did but there were no updates available for my drive.

I've decided to do the pain in the butt re-install.  Do you find EMC9 to be buggy?

Personally no - it works fine for me

But what worries me is the error code you are getting is one where the drive is telling the software 'Look - I can't write here so don't send me any more data' rather than a software error code where the program has gone belly-up

I removed and cleand my system of all sonic and rixio files, even in the registers, re installed and still the same -  system does not see that the drive has a writable disk ready.   :)

While other programs can write to that drive and those disks in DVD format.

Well, I'm afraid I have the same problem - a lot of so called unspecified errors, and the latest is this one [0x130c000a]. I also find, that all other burning programs are working perfect with the same DVD drive and brand of DVD discs, so....my conclusion is, that EMC 9 is not working properly.

Concerning one of the other unspecified errors [0x80004005] the support center suggested, I should download and install a Roxio bug fix for EMC 8. I just wonder why this bug fix wasn't part of the "fantastic new program upgrade" Easy Media Creator 9?

Why do a lot of software companies launch applications with a lot of bugs, even such, that are known from older versions of the same program?
