Hello All,
I have been having problems with my pioneer CD/DVD burner for quite some time now. I had been using Easy Media Creator 6 when I started encountering problems so I upgraded to the Easy Media Creator 9 suite in hopes it would help. At one time I could burn cds with no problem using ECM 6 and this drive. Also, I have no problems when burning a CD with windows media player but I keep getting error messages when using EMC 9. From this error message I am assuming that my burner is the problem but I am not sure how to fix the problem. I receive the following error messages when burning a CD. Since I have no idea what most of this error means I have included all of the errors in hopes someone can pinpoint my problem. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

It looks like your burner is not recognizing that you have a DVD in it. Update the firmware, and see if that makes a difference.
If that doesn't fix it, Remove the Secondary Ide connection in Device Manager, and reboot. See if that cures the problem.

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I cannot find firmware that works and removing the Secondary Ide connection did not do anything new. I downloaded firmware for the pioneer DVR-109 and when I update the firmware I get the message "Available target is not found." Do I need a different firmware?
Since Pioneer's website does not support CD/DVD burners I am at a loss as to what I should do. Any other ideas?? Thank you!!

Have you tried different brands/types of media? I got the DVD-111? for my son, back in May, and TDK's worked well with his, but it sounds like your burner is dying or dead.
The Pioneer site does have firmware, and if you downloaded the right file, it should work with your burner.

Thank you!!

Thank you guys for the help so far!!
I have the most recent firmware, I have tried removing the Secondary IDE connection, and I still have the same problems. This would make me think my burner is starting to die on me but the burner is not more than a year and half old and under some circumstances I can burn a CD successfully. Like I mentioned before I can burn a CD using windows media player. When using EMC 9 I noticed that my CDs would fail around track 7 or 8 (depending on which files I tried to burn) so I burned a CD with only 5 tracks using Roxio EMC 9 and it worked successfully and plays fine.
Now I have no idea what the problem could be? Any ideas??
Roxio originally worked with this burner and then one day it just stopped. Is there a way to 'reset' my burner and any settings? Almost making my computer think it is a new burner.
Thanks guys!!

Jeed2316,
it is either software or hardware. If you can burn sometimes and WMP will burn a CD disk the software seems to be the problem. Are you using some DRM files?
