I am running Vista Business Enterprise. Since Roxio announced support for Vista, I felt that the applications would work well with the new OS. I installed the full suite of Easy Media Creator 9.

Since I work regularly with disk images from various vendors, I felt that the Disk Image Loader would be a great help to me. (I don't always want to burn a disk if I can use the ISO.)

As soon as I created my first virtual drive I noticed that my context sensitive menu (right mouse click) had slowed dramatically. Other elements of the users interface slowed too. Any time I needed to search the drive tree, the waiting time was unbearable. I noticed that it was taking up to 1 minute for my right clicks to show results.

I searched for other Vista solutions, but happened to uncover this as the culprit on my own. Please note that I have assigned drive letters to 2 different Virtual drives and the generally not both were in use.

Any suggestions? I have had to turn off mounting of ISO's for now while I figure out a solution.

While some parts of EMC9 work ok with Vista, Roxio has announced that it will fully support Vista when it's publicly released.

According to Vista Team Blog it's 21 days from today. Thank God the SuperBowl hype will occur around the same time and maybe stifle the Vista press a bit.

Also here's hoping that the patch for EMC9 is out then or things will really start hopping...lol

Don't forget - the day XP was officially launched - there were a slew of MS 'updates' all ready to go in :)

Vista will be the FIRST Windows update that I won't be running out to buy. I just don't think from a technical point of view, there really isn't anything 'new'. More like a fancy face lift and a bad one at that. The one thing they took out that I found interesting was the new file system. I can wait until my next computer purchase. Well actually, that's why I bought BEFORE Vista came out. :)

I can't say I blame you Gary - I do recollect the total disasters that were the first issue of 95 (the one that came on a stack of floppies), 98 and ME (ME was that 'good' most people reverted to 98 Second Edition and it got the nickname here of Multiple Errors') :)

In the shipping version of Vista, I have noticed that the problem described here persists. Has anyone else experienced the issue since 1/30? Disabling Disk Image Loader fixes the problem although it hung to the point of crashing the application for me when I deleted the only virtual drive I had created.

Roxio, are you aware of the issue and are you working on a fix to this? I have opened up a ticket to this.

Thanks.

Can anyone state that this issue is or is not present with the shipping version of Vista? If this is not an issue for you, I would still like to know that so I can know if I should be looking for some kind of a software conflict rather than a bug in EMC.

Thanks,
Todd

Had the same problem on Vista Ultimate and Business Enterprise x64, using a virtual disc makes Vista practically unworkable. Spent quite a while trying to figure out what as going on until I noticed that one of the computers had a Roxio virtual disc mounted even when started up using basic drivers and services.

Bit of a bug to say the least.
