I dragged a folder of photos to D2D. It started working and finished. When I tried to eject it told me that it had to magic juju to the disc so it could be used on any CD player. Well, it's been spinning now for 6 hours. How long does it take to do thie magic juju? Or is it even working?

Havn't got a clu what " magic juju" is.

Try using Crator Classic to copy your folders instaed of D2D.

D2D is a packet writer and like all packet writers is about the most unreliable form of burning ever devised.

It should only be used for the transfer of files from one PC to another when no other means exists. It should never be used for any type of backup!!!

By magic juju I mean that I cannot eject my disc from the computer because the D2D is doing something to the disc so that it can be played on any CD player. However, the symbol in the D2D kept spinning for over 6 hours before I ejected the disc manually. I then tried to play it and all I could get was Loading, then a square that came on the screen and said "Root". It never would play.

So far I have used over 100 discs trying to copy 3 folders of photos. No matter what I do, nothing works. Each time it is a different problem. I even replaced my CD writer with a top of the line Sony. I even reloaded Windows XP and assorted software.

I downloaded and printed the manual for Roxio 6 but is of very little help in telling me how to make a slide show with my photos. There is one page which says nothing.

Right now, the score is(after a month)Computer 10000 Me Zip. I would say that Easy CD and DVD Creator is neither Easy nor a Creator but one magnificent pain in the hindquarters.

It should be easy if you use the right program. Start with a blank un-formatted disc. DO NOT format it with D2D!. Now, open up Creator Classic (as has been suggested before) an use that part of the program to burn those folders to the un-formatted disc.

Alternatively, use a BLANK blank, and simply either drag the file, or right-click and send the file to the burner drive, and follow the prompts from WinXP to use the inbuilt WinXP burning system, which, like Classic Creator, is Sessions based.

If you want to KEEP the data, NEVER format the disc.  Never use a formatted disc for any sessions-based program, either.  I call it Basic False Analogy - you format the floppy before you use the floppy, therefore you format the CD before you use the CD.
The only thing Packet-Writing programs (the kind that format the CD) are good for, is losing all data permantly.  That applies not only to Drag2Disc and DirectCD, but also Nero's InCD, Sonic's DLA, and any other Packet Writing programs.

... and to make a slideshow open DVD Builder and add your pictures. You can set the duration and transition between pictures.

However unless you have a DVD Burner your slideshow can only be made into a VCD or a SVCD which may not be compatible with recent DVD Players.

I would suggest you get a few CD-RWs to play with until you get it right. They are erasable so you don't waste media.

OK, I went to Creator Classic, dragged down a folder of photos and followed all the prompts. Everything went well. So, what the heck, popped in another new HP CD-R disc, and did it for another folder of photos. Everything went well according to the prompts. Then I did it for the third folder of photos. Everything went well. Then, I tried to play the discs. First one was OK but that was all. The other 2 came up on the CD player with Root and underneath the title of the folder. But I couldn't get either of the latter two to play. This is more or less the story of attempted burnings of my photo CDs. One out of three. As I have said, I have used over 100 CD-Rs and have a grand total of about 6 discs to show for it.

And after you had successfully burned CD #1, did you close the layout and open a new one?

I wish to thank all who have given me help and to apologize for my stupidity!!! I was fritzing around with Roxio the other day trying to solve my problems when I discovered a marvelous little icon and when I clicked on it, IT WAS A TUTORIAL!! Amazing when can happen when you take time to investigate before you rush into something. So, once again, thanks to all. I burned 4 discs yesterday(12 hours work)of my photos and all were successful. :)

You're welcome.

I'd say you paid for your impatience with losing over 100 CD blanks.
