Now this could be a function of my Scientific American Cable Box, but I don't know enough to make that determination.
Anyone know how to defeat or work-around this?
Thanks, Mark

looking thru tivo forums, this is a known
issue that started happening to all tivo2go
transfers since their last software upgrade
a couple months ago.
wish i'd known before i spent the dough
to buy this program
also looks like tivo is doing nothing to resolve
the issue

I saved one recording which failed under TiVo Decode Manager to test John's claim. Toast 8 choked on the recording at exactly the same point. I am -NOT- happy. Roxio, I expect you to resolve this with TiVo quickly. I did not pay $70 for software that is actually more limited and just as error prone as the free software I was already using.
Shame that until this is rectified I will have to recommend my clients against buying Toast 8.

We weren't aware of the issue at that time, however since we've had reports we have investigated with TiVo and posted a knowledge base article with our response. It will be resolved by an update to your DVR and not through Toast. It affects both PC and Mac users of TiVoToGo.

We'll update this article if things change...

But Roxio SHOULD have been aware of this issue. It existed at the time. Your partner was aware of the issue. I fault them for not keeping you informed of this major flaw that undermines a major advertising claim you are making for Toast 8. Roxio carries a lot more leverage in pushing TiVo to resolve this issue than individual customers have. Tivo is stonewalling us. How about a timeframe in resolving this issue? Forgive us if we don't trust Tivo's promises that this will be resolved soon... they released Tivo2Go in January '05 promising Mac support soon which arrived in January '07... broken.

No refund necessary. Roxio has been good to me and my customers over the years but I do expect Roxio to push TiVo to resolve this issue in a timely manner. They are stonewalling user inquiries over this issue. Hope you can do better with them. As it stands now, Toast 8 does nothing more for me than TDM offers (and actually does quite a bit less). TiVos 'bug' undermines a major advertising claim and selling point Roxio is making with Toast 8.
Yours wasn't the only inaccuracy at the booth that day. The cashier promised that I would receive a retail boxed copy of Toast 8 including a printed manual. The software arrived sans printed manual. I guess I expected better from Roxio.

As soon as we have more information from TiVo we will post it, but as of now they have promised a DVR software update to resolve the issue. TiVo has much incentive to fix this and in speaking with them, they do take these concerns very seriously. I understand you typically don't see an individual speak on TiVo's behalf (outside of some of the blogs) but they are there and are listening.
Also keep in mind, this is affecting both Windows and Mac users.

OK. Had/have the same problem, BUT here's a kludge that works:
Manually set the TiVo to record a 5 minute lead-in on the channel you want to record,
eg., the show you want starts on channel X @ 2:00 am. Manually set to record channel X @ 1:55 am to 2:00 am.
This prevents whatever signal that is screwing up the transfer recording. Personally I thought it was my cable box (Scientific American). Anyway this will help unless you are recording back-to-back shows on differenr channels.
Yeah, I know. It sucks. All we can hope is a TiVo fix in a year or two.
Let me know how it works for you.
