Recently any cd i've attempted to play has had loud static in the background. I've tried both burned and original cd's and the same thing happens on both. It's not my speakers because i can play songs i've burned in the past without a problem but any cd I play has this problem. I even tried to put a few songs on my mp3 player but the static carried over onto my mp3 player! so it's not the speakers nor it's the cd so i don't know what to do. The cd's are fine on the stereo it's only on the computer. Well let me know if there is anything i can do or check. thanx alot

Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your sound card.  It could be going south on you, but that would be odd.
