I can extract files from my series 1 Tivo with no problem.

Would anyone care to speculate if Toast 8 would be able to convert these .ty files into another format?

Can it do any editing of the video to trim ads, etc?

Not supported by Toast 8 and TiVoToGo under any circumstances.  

If you can play the extracted files normally in QuickTime, it might be possible for Toast 8 to work with them however this is not related to our TiVoToGo support.

Toast 8 will export tivo programs only in 320x240 video in formats compatable with psp and ipod.  In a dialog box that comes up when you hit the export button, there is a sentence explaining that this is what is 'allowed' by tivo.
