Something that I can't understand Gary is once that the new updated DirectX file is downloaded and then run, after that if you run "dxdiag" the version of it still shows the identical numbers. I would think that once you updated the file that dxdiag would show some change. So a question might be If one didn't know if they had the latest file from MS, how would they tell ?

Makes me wonder what got messed up at the end of last month that they needed to issue a new version this fast (normally MS take months before they even admit there's a problem)

I downloaded the file. And checked it out using dxdiag.
My File tab looks like this. Note the dates. Also, is my version of the dxdiag outdated? Should that have been updated too when I downloaded the new DirectX?

If you don't show any 1-9-2007 under the date, I wouldn't feel better!

I haven't rebooted since I installed it, right before my post in this thread.  I will reboot and see if it is the same.

EDIT:  Reboot, and no change.

I guess the point that I was trying to make was that once you had downloaded and updated the DirectX file, that somewhere in the first screen, under the "General" tab, that the file would have updated the newer date, without having to go to the File Tab to see what was the latest file on your computer.

BTW, without having to display another attachment, my screen is exactly like Jess's also.

Now I feel much much better!!!

Well. now I'm not so sure if the date is the same. I downloaded the 1-9-2007 file and ran it. Then rebooted and my diagnostic screens still don't show the newest date. Any one care to guess why ??

Gary's screenshot show a date of 1-9-2007 for all files.

Downloaded the file and clicked Run in the dialog box. Is there any other way to do it?
