Greetings!

Apologies for being in the wrong forum -- couldn't find one for my old version.

I've been using version 5 (I think) for several years --
I formatted disks for "drag & drop" then copied my data files over to the disks.

Now after a motherboard crash, I have a new PC
and all my old disks are being viewed as totally blank!

Is there some way to recover the data on those disks?

Thanks,
-Zob

OK - you're in the right spot now :)

OK - if you have a new PC it's almost certain that you have Windows XP with SP2 installed. There are several things you will have to do (and even then, there are no guarantees it will work)

If you have installed Internet Explorer and/or Media Player 11 - take them out (they kill just about everything up to EMC8 and are also causing some problems with EMC9 and other software)

TakeTwo won't work in XP. You could try using a UDF reader to see if that can access the data

If that won't work, then try either of these (trial versions to see if they can read but to extract you need to buy the actual program)

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Internet Explorer 7, that is.  I.E. 6 is fine.  And I sure hope you used CD-R, because CD-RW will fade out on its own over time.

OK -- Thanks to you both!
My way is clear now.
Fortunately I have all my crucial files.

Thanks again,
-Zob
