Is Toast 8 and TiVo to go compatible with DirecTV TiVo's? I have conflicting information that indicates that the are not compatible but want more advice.

can you share what kind of information you have? i'm a directv tivo owner and am very interested in this product but wonder whether it'll work for mt directv unit. since it does not have networking enabled, i feel certain that i'll have to mod the box using one of the hacks out there.

DirectTV Tivo is not supported. Currently, only TiVo Series 2 is supported. Properly Series 3 also but no confirmation on that yet.

Are you saying that Direct TV Series 2 is supported?

If you have a TiVo box that was provided by DirectTV, then that box does not have TiVoToGo enabled.

If you have a TiVo Series2 box from TiVo, then those do have TiVoToGo enabled.

Thanks, that is what I was afraid of. I can connect my DirectTv TiVo to my computer and record to my Mac but you do you know of any way to use Toast 8 or another program to easily transfer and save?

Thanks again,
Keith

Yes, i am interested as well... Toast 8 has pretty broad video format support.. you can just about add any kind of video file into the Toast video window and create a DVD...

mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg4, divx, xvid, vob, avi, mov, eyetv programs, tivo programs...

If you can get the unit connected to your Mac and can copy the file off, Toast can likely turn it into a DVD. I've heard that people have success with their ReplayTVs as well.

I'd really like to try to connect the DirecTV DVR to my Mac, then be able to get the content to Toast 8. What would you recommend I try? I'm willing to try anything!java script:emoticon(':)',%20'smid_13')
Thank you for any sugestions!

DirecTV units don't support transfers off of the boxes by default... they need to be modified in some way that I have no knowledge of. Perhaps you want to dig around www.tivocommunity.com.
