I want to make sure I do the install correctly. Can someone please let me know if I should uninstall EMC 7.5 first or will EMC 9 do it for me during the install?

I also want to burn a copy of EMC 9 since I only bought the download. I once tried burning a copy of EMC 8, (elements suggestion) and I had no luck...

I checked the topics and didnt seem to see anything about this... However there was a thread that talked about deleting cookies, temp. internet files... etc... I'm not sure that would pertain to me... I hope not..

Thanks for any help...

OK - reverse order

To make a CD you will need winzip or winrar - extract the files (they're self-extractine exe files - right click on both and 'extract to'). This will give you two folders - one for program and the other for content - burn the contents of each folder to CD (not the folder itself)

Uninstall - the only thing you MUST uninstall would be drag to disc (this clashes with other versions)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Oh good. this seems much easier than the thread I was just reading about a Clean Install... that seems like it would take me all day... lol... This system is practically brand new, not too much on it

I dont even think i have drag to disk installed so that's perfect!

Thanks! I'll be back if i have any problems...

I would go the long route with the clean install. Plus I delete the Roxio Sonic folders in the registry, High Key Current User, Software, and High Key Local Machine, Software.

If its not to difficult to explain would you mind telling me where I can find all of these folders to delete? I'm checking program files, but I guess it shouldnt be there since I'd be uninstalling it anyway...

I downloaded EMC to my desktop, I didnt do an install yet... Thats okay that its on my desktop while I do all this?

Gary has posted it several times!

The desk top is fine for now.

Start with control panel add remove programs, remove the Roxio software.

Then,
Delete these folders if they exsist:
C:\program files\roxio
c:\program files\sonic
c:\program files\common files\roxio shared
c:\program files\common files\sonic shared
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Roxio
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Roxio

Also remove any IE cookies with Roxio or Sonic in this folder:
c:\documents and settings\username\cookies

Then use a registry cleaner to remove any entries that may refer to the removed applications. THEN REBOOT and reinstall EMC 9.

Oh... for some reason, I thought those files would delete themselves after the uninstall... Okay... so I removed everything but I dont think I have a registry cleaner... I cant find anything on my system that has anything to do with cleaner... except Disk Clean up... But I didnt think that was the same thing...

Can I do this without the registry cleaner?

oh... see what a little reading can do... I found the registry clean up in another thread... Thanks!

You are welcome, and that is good news.

GP Bruce has both installed. I would drop him a pm
and ask about putting 7.5 along side of 9.

Does this mean I can run multiple versions of EMC - say 7.5, 8 & 9 on my computer?

All three would be pushing it a bit - 7.5 and 9 should work together provided D2D isn't there
