Hello everyone just wondering if anyone knows if a PlayStation 2 can play a DVD-r which is made a using my DVD version 9 I have a friend in the Philippines which I would like to send a DVD to at this stage I don't even know what system may were running in the Philippines if it is pal or NTSC any help someone can give me would be appreciated Michelle

The top 4 hits in Google indicates that the Philippines uses the NTSC format (TV/video).

I'll see what I can find about PS2 playing DVD-R media; will post back.

Edit: It's best to ask your Filipino(?)  friend in the Philippines to check the PS2 manual for the type of media it supports. I know for sure though that I have played DVD +R in PS2 without problem. Anyway, if you both have these two media types (+R and -R) available, you may want to send one of each type.
