I've just upgraded to EMC9 and tried to burn a few data DVDs using D2D. After I hit "eject" with close and finalise for any PC use, I get an error dialog saying that there is an error regarding CD and DVD compatiblility. At this point the DVD drive continually seems to access the DVD and the whole XP desktop hangs. I have to hard reset the PC!!!! :)

The burner worked OK under EMC8 but I have tried updating the drive firmware without resolving the problem.

Incidently, I have checked for EMC9 updates but there isn't any. At XP startup, it puts a ballon over D2D and complains that the CD/DVD software may cause Windows to hang.

Regards
Dave

Do you have another packet writing software, such as Nero's InCD or Sonic's DLA installed.  If so, get rid of them.

Nope, always used Roxio (pre-roxio even) EMC7 and 8 prior to 9 ............... but I am seriously thinking of moving to Nero now!

BTW, if you are using D2D to back up important data, you are playing Russian Roulette.  It is not a safe way to back up data.  Use Creator Classic instead.

InCD is every bit as unreliable - NO packet writing software is reliable for long-term storage

Having said that - did you uninstall any earlier versions of D2D (they will also clash)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Was just trying to help you not go down the path of destruction.  Like Daithi said, InCD and DLA are just as unreliable.
