Oh, you post the same question in both Pro and Pro HD.

There are some freeware to allow you to convert different subtitle format to another one.

Personally, I am using "Subtitle Workshop". Just save the subtitle to "Sonic DVDCreator" format. DVDit Pro can import it directly.

Press "Ctrl-A" in the subtitle area to select all subtitles. Then, any format change will apply to all subtitles.

I am new in DVDit Pro but I found this program is so great and easy to use.

Enjoy!

Thank you Wing cc. Now I am ready to burn my dvd movie. But I am having problems with the space. My dvd's are of 4.7 Gbs, and the project is of 7.9 Gb. My question is that I dont understand why the project is so big, because the movie itself is about 700mb and the subtitles not even 1mb. Could you please help me ?? I know that this can be improved.

It's not about the original file size. It is about how long the video playtime. I put a 45 minutes video in with subtitle. It uses around 2.5GB and I have around 2 GB space left.

Modifying quality settings in Project Settings will change the output size. In my case, choose a lower quality setting will make the output size down to around 1.3GB.

Wing cc, again thank you for your help. You are really an expert on all these. Another problem I am having is that the subtitles I added, in some parts (generally the ones of more than 1 line) appear cut (with missing parts). I checked seeing the original file and they are complete there, so there must be a problem when adding them to DVDit Pro HD. What can I do to solve this???

For those long subtitles, use | (the key just above the Enter key, use Shift to key it in) to give a break to the line and make it to 2nd line.

Wing cc, but where I am supposed to do this, when editing the subtitles in the DVDit Pro HD or before importing them (with the correct format)????

Use a text editor to open the subtitle file. Add the "|" whenever the subtitle is too long.

Some subtitle formats may use other way or special character to break a line. When you convert the format from one to one, watch out those formating problem.

Wing.cc but there is not a way of doing it like for all the lines at once, because doing it one by one means having to do it to approximately 500 hundred lines of subtitles and that would last a lot of time.
So basically, what I have to do is to open the subtitles file in Wordpad and add this sign "|" to all the double lines, then save it, convert the file into Sonic format, and finally import it to DVDit Pro Hd???

There are two ways to make a 2nd line in DVDIt subtitle.

Use the "|" like below:

0010 00:04:07:20 00:04:10:20 … the mothers went by|season of fishing…

Or give a Enter key at the point you want to make a 2nd line and then add a Tab like below:

0010 00:04:07:20 00:04:10:20 … the mothers went by
season of fishing…

I will first convert the file to a compatible format. In the case of DVDit, all original 2nd lines will converted as follow:

0010 00:04:07:20 00:04:10:20 … the mothers went by
season of fishing…

So, I only need to go to the line of "season of fishing..." and press "Tab" key.

0010 00:04:07:20 00:04:10:20 … the mothers went by
season of fishing…

That's it!

I normally take around 5 minutes to add "Tab" and I think it is not a big deal.

Enjoy.

Hi!

I have 2 questions about the subtitles on DVDit Pro HD:
1 - Can I make only one word on a single screen subtitle in ITALIC and the other words normal?

2 - When I generate subtitles in DVDit Pro HD, burn a BD-RE disc and watch on a HDTV, the quality of the subtitles are very bad and I used the size 28. I have a friend, that author BD in other software, I don't know what software, he make the subtitles on the MAESTRO SBT software in 1920 X 1080, the size of the subtitles are 45 and it looks much better. Is any way to make the subtitles on DVDit Pro HD with this bigger size? I believe that DVDit Pro HD uses the 28 size and then zoom it to 1920 X 1080 and it looks terrible.

Thanks.

You could also try another freeware program called SubRip
