I had emc 7.5 and everything was good with the software.  I recently updated to emc 8 and now when I disconnect my liteon dvd burner (external) i cannot reconnect it and use it.  When i reconnect it the drive is not recognized and I have to restart the computer to be able to use it again.  I am uninstalling emc 8 and reinstalling emc 7.5 to see if this helps.  uninstalling emc 8 stopped to disconnect problem I was having but now the data dvd's i created in 7.5 come up as blank discs.  Hopefully once 7.5 is back on that will be fixed too.  Let me know if anyone else has had this issue or if anyone has a suggestion in fixing the problem in emc 8.  My system specs are
Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop

Windows Xp sp2
1.5gb ram
Phillips cd burner attached to computer
liteon sohw 1673sx dvd burner (external)
intel centrino mobile chipset (Pentium M 1.6GHz)
