I am on XP SP2, backing up (by creating data DVDs, not with a backup program) some big folders of digital photos. I am using Roxio Creator 9 and launching Creator Classic. I drag a folder of about 48GB into the project and tell it I will use DVDs at 4.7GB in the drop down at bottom left...(vs the many CD-Rs it first assumes and indicates). It switches to show me will need 10+ DVD-Rs. I set it to verify file system after on each and start with a high quality Sony DVD-R (single layer) in my Sony DRU-820 drive with DMA enabled etc.
As the job burns it finishes the first DVD and ejects it, I put in the second DVD-R and it burns and verifies that. I put in the 3rd DVD-R and it ejects it saying put in either a DVD+R DL or DVD with XYZ amount of space on it. What? I put in a verbatim DVD+R DL and it carries on the job fine! What is up with that???
The only other thing I noticed was along the bottom it indicated about 10.2 DVD-Rs would be needed for the size of the folder I asked it to burn to DVD. In the progress bar it said, right from the start, "Disc 1 of 5", the "Disk 2 of 5" etc.....why??
This is really frustrating. I guess I can finish with DVD+R DL since I have them on hand but I would have preferred DVD-Rs for archiving.
Have latest FW on Sony drive BTW SS23.
