I am attempting to do a complete System Backup using the EMC 9 program. I'm using DVD-R's as my media to back it up on. Should I be using some other kind of disc to do this backup because every time I try using the DVD-R, I get an error message telling me to use some other media. Any ideas?

What kind of drives (cd or dvd) do you have in your machine?

Just as a point of interest - did you 'format' the disc before starting the backup?
DVDs for backup do NOT need 'formatting' - that only applies to Drag to Disc which, for backup purposes is as useful as an igloo in the Sahara.
For backup, take a new DVD from the spindle, put it in the machine and run the program - do not do anything to the disc
