I'm trying to move audio files from My Music Folder to a blank CD in F Drive in order to copy the music on a CD.  I have done this many, many times over the past year with no problem.  Last night I performed my usual procedure and received an error message

"Drag to disc could not start because components necessary to run are missing.  Please re-install drag to disc"

How could Drag to Disck be there one day and not the next?  I haven't made any changes to my computer.  I did a search of my hard drive and it appears there is a folder on the drive labeled "Drag to Disc" so it looks like it actually is on my comptuer.  ???   I don't know what to do.

If anyone can help please explain as if to a 4 year old because I am a beginner.

Thanks !

Why would you want to use D2D to create a music CD in the first place?  Try using Creator Classic instead.

OK I'll try that procedure tonight.  I usually rip individual songs from other peoples' CDs and store them on my computer.  When I get enough to fill an 80 minute CD, I put a blank CD in my burner, highlight all the songs, click the My Computer folder and drag all the highlighted songs to the blank disk in the F Drive.  As I said that usually works but I will definitely try the Creator Classic route tonight.  Thanks !

It sounds as if you have been using the built-in WinXP burning to make data CDs of mp3s.

If so, then you haven't been using Easy Media Creator AT ALL.

Well, doesn't that just go to show you how little I understand the computer world !!  Since this looks as if it may not be a Roxio problem, would you be willing to suggest what I might do to solve the issue?  Also, if I use Creator Classic would I be able to accomplish my goal?

A good place to start would be open up Creator Classic and then click on the help manu.

Good point !  I'll do that.  Being frustrated and computer illerate, I didn't consider what obviously should have been Step 1.  Thanks.

OK my lack of knowledge will be pretty obvious here.  The answer to your question is - I don't know.  I assume I am making an Audio CD.  I don't know what an mp3 is.  I rip music from commercial music CDs that I borrow from people.  The file extension on each song is wma.  Usually I don't like all the songs on a CD so I just rip 2 or 3 from a CD.  Then when I get 75 minutes worth of music I burn the music to a blank CD.  My CDs are very eclectic !!  If I happen to like an entire CD then I use Roxio Disc Copier.  But, for whatever reason, neither Roxio Disc Copier nor dragging songs from one folder to another on my computer seems to work any more.   Posters have made several suggestions for me to try.  I did not feel well last night so I did nothing.  Hopefully this weekend I can review this stream and get to work on solving this.  I'll absolutely have to do something to get to the bottom of this becaue at this point I am unable to get any CDs burned.

Try getting a friend, neighbour, relative, co-worker, ( someone with computer experience) who can sit down with you  and  explain and show you  how to use some of the  programs that you have. Were just going around in circles on here.

I think you underestimate me, but that may be my fault by the way I worded my posts.  I'm not an airhead.  I have successfully authored some very unique and impressive productions utilizing PhotoSuite, Sound Editor, VideoWave, etc.  I am quite capable of creating wonderful things when the hardware and software work properly.  However, I am not experienced enough to solve the problems that occur when they don't work.  I feel confident I am competent enough to administer the repairs needed when someone directs me through the step-by-step process explaining in layman's terms, since I am uneducated in the techno jargon.    I have previously posted in these forums and satisfactorily solved my problems with the generous assistance of the Roxio community.  I value these forums and need these forums and credit these forums with allowing me to accomplish all the wonderful things I have done so far.  I have made many people happy with my productions and owe most of it to all of you.  I was hoping my good luck would continue by finding the answer here to my drag to disk issue.

OK - basically what I'd recommend you do is this

Make a temporary folder anywhere you like - somewhere where you can find it easily

Open that - then open the CD with the songs you want

Right click on the songs and drag them to the temp folder, release the mouse button and on the menu that appears select 'Copy Here'

When you have enough songs, open creator classic, select audio CD and drag the songs in - not the folder, just the songs

Select burn and then tell it to burn to the hard drive as an image file

Open the resulting file (it will be either .iso or .c2d) with Disc Copier and it will then write to the blank and also finalise it
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I followed the first several steps.  Then when I clicked on Creator Classic to open it a message displayed "dragon engine initialization failed" and Creator Classic would not open.  So I am stalled again.  Thank you for your help.  Is there anything else I could try?   Strangely, I can drag photos from one folder to another and to a blank disk in my CD drive and the CD burns just fine.    It just seems to be an audio problem.

If you "can drag photos from one folder to another and to a blank disk in my CD drive and the CD burns just fine", you are doing that with the built-in WinXP burning, which (aside from the detail that the burning engine is by Roxio) is unrelated to Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 / 7.5.

Try this for the "dragon engine initialization failed" answer.
