I noticed today that I had a Mac that when running TiVo Transfer, would not see my DVR.  I had tried everything to get it to work, but nothing seemed to help.  However, my second Mac setting next to the Mac that didn't see the DVR seemed to work just fine.

Both were on the same network, connected the same way, running the same OS, but yet one would not see the DVR and the other one would.

So, I started messing with the non-working Mac again to see why it wouldn't work.  In the Console I was getting some Java errors which the working Mac didn't have.  I snooped around with the Java settings on the non-working Mac and found that there seemed to be some corruption.

Typing 'java -version' in the Terminal also said the command was not found.  Strange.

So, I downloaded the most resent version of Java from Apple and installed on the non-working Mac.  After the install, I launch TiVo Transfer and it showed my DVR and all the shows.  Transfers work, files play...YES!

If you are having problems with TiVo Transfer not seeing your DVR, I suggest downloading the Java update from Apple and reinstalling.

As with past Apple software updates, sometimes things don't go right and the files are not installed correctly.

Hopefully this will help users with a similar problem.

Just tried your fix. Downloaded and installed the Java update. Still no Tivo DVR in the Transfer window unless I reset the router, and then I still do not get the list of programs. The spinner just keeps spinning.  I have been using 'Tivo Decode Manager' to transfer, and also am able to access and download files through my browser. This is a very curious problem. I might add that I *still* have not recieved a respone from Roxio's 'self-service' online help. It's been almost two weeks now. You'd think that they would at least acknowledge the problem.

Same, I tried downloading (from the Apple.com) website the latest Java update, and I still do not see my DVRs
