Everything else is working fine but I am unable to load photos to do a slideshow with the slideshow assistant. I get a message that says "StringRef: Album Browser unable to load". Any suggestions or ideas on what this is? Should I uninstall and then try to reinstall?

Have you tried to load those images into VideoWave?  If they load there, forget about the Assistant. Which assistant are you using the two step one from MyDVD or the three step one from under the photos tab?
What format are the images (jpeg, png)?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Thanks for your response.Gesh, I installed the companion "content" disc and now nothing works! I have a Dell computer that is about a year old. It has tons of memory so that certainly isn't the problem.  I noticed that many people are having problems with this program if they have a Dell computer for some reason. I can't understand why a program would run for a day or two and then suddenly stop working. I can get the My DVD program up on the screen but when I try to play a preview of the movie I just get a blank screen. I can't get the photos to load in the slideshow view because when I click on "add photos" it just goes back to the main menu.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, I'm not sure about some Dell computers.   A lot of people don't have problems but some do.    Let's try the most frequent solution first.  Update the video drivers for your computer and update Microsoft's DirectX 9c. If your computer is a year old and you haven't done this yet, it is overdue.  This would normally be my guess for the problems but you said it was working So that is puzzling. :)

Open VideoWave or MyDVD and go to the top menu.  Select tools>options and put the rendering dot next to software.  Try again.

Have you checked for malware or viruses lately?  Have you let Microsoft update you to WMP 11 or IE 7.  That has been a problem for some -- especially WMP 11.  You might try rolling those back to WMP10 and IE6.  What are you using for anti-virus software. Some people have complained that recent updates have caused problems.

What kind of computer and video card/chip you have and someone will help you find the updated drivers although Dell is usually pretty good about posting them based on your model..

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.  The slide show assistant worked the first time I tried it and hasn't worked since, despite updating the video driver and re-installing the program.  I'll try the updated dierctX and the change to software rendering.  I'm beinning to think I should have stayed with Roxio 6.

As the original poster hasn't been back since February, we don't know whether or not what was suggested worked or not.

The problem with 'me too' posts is that they never really are the same in the end - there's always a differencfe somewhere which is why we recommend that people don't tail-end an existing thread but start their own, and always with some system specs (CPU, RAM, graphics) and as exact a description of what they're doing and what happens (or doesn't happen) including any error messages
