I recently purchased version 8 - I have video and audio projects in version 7.5 - Version 8 will not run them.  Is this software backwards compable.  If not what a wasts of money!

Can't say about Audio, but MyDVD and VideoWave have not had any problem with the older project files.

What happens when you try to load one?

You are aware that you can have both versions on your PC without any conflicts???

I have at least 3 EMC 7.5 productions that do not work in EMC 8. They will open but do not show all transitions, texts, etc that I added in EMC 7.5.

Remember, a project file is just a list of the editing that you want to have happen. It is not an actual 'edited' file, just the notes. These notes only keep track of where all the source data is for your project and how you want it used. So.....
Most v7 or v7.5 projects can be opened in v8. How much of it will still work depends on 2 things.
1. If 7/7.5 is still installed
2. What was used in the project is a function that can be replicated by v8

Keeping v7/7.5 installed gives you the best chance to reuse them in v8. This is because anything you used in it, like lets say text added to it, is looking for it in the v7/7.5 set of dir's which are different than the v8 set of dir's. So if it's not still installed, it can't find what it's looking for, so it can't keep it.

There are a few things, like pan & zoom effects, that are not transferrable to v8. That because they changed how that works, so the original edit info is no longer valid.
