At this point, Tivo Series 3 HD is not TivoToGo supported.  If it becomes supported in the future, will the current Toast 8 be compatible with it?  I am thinking about waiting to get the new HD version, but if it is not going to be compatible, I'll just get a Tivo Series 2 now.  I currently (unfortunately) have a DirectTv DVR which will never be compatible...
Since I have Direct TV now, I think I'll need to change to cable service to take advantage of Tivo HD programming since DirectTV HD is nor supoorted on Tivo HD--is this true?

The information we have from TiVo is that when TiVoToGo is enabled on the Series 3 devices, the TiVo capabilities in Toast 8 will be compatible with it.

The TiVo Series 3 uses cable cards, which I believe only work with cable companies and not DirecTV.

Do you know when the Series 3 will offer TivoToGo?

No. All we are told from TiVo is that it will be offered on the Series 3... but nothing else.

Is a Tivo Series 3 machine different than a Tivo Series 3 machine with TivoToGo (when available)?  If I bought a Tivo Series 3 now (no TivoToGo), and TivoToGo became available for the Series Three, would I be able to do something to the machine or would I need a brand new machine to get TivotoGo?  What is TivoToGo...is it hardware or software??

I really want a Tivo Serieas 3, but I also want the TivoToGo feature so I can use it with toast....

Your advice is really appreciated! :)

You might find info on Tivo's TiVoToGo forum Here or the TiVo Community Forum Here.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

What TiVo has explained to us is that when TiVoToGo is available for Series 3 units, all they need to do is switch something on in the software that runs on the TiVo... they periodically release system updates to boxes and deliver them overnight to you... this update will "enable" TiVoToGo for any Series 3 that has already been purchased, as well as new Series 3.
