I have just installed Vista Home Premium, which I already like more than XP. I did a clean install on Easy Creator 9. When I use Videowave to make a slide show and want to burn I get a message that I need to activate the mpeg 2 codec. I click ok but then get a message that I don't have permission to do this and it is a bad installation. I am the administrator for the computer which is a Dell XPS400. Any solutions to this problem?

Did the program itself activate on installation?

Check here for manual details

http://forums.suppor...showtopic=12074

Something else which has been known to happen - keep trying and it may suddenly decide to work (don't ask me why that happens - it just does) :)

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Should be on a sticky label inside the CD case

4) Activation will fail, but this time, choose to Activate Offline.
5) In the Offline Product Activation window, copy the product 25 Digit product key listed in orange. Do not close this window.

That particular key is generated when you choose the offline activation option

Here

1) Close Easy Media Creator 9.
2) Disconnect your computer from the internet. The easiest way is to turn off your modem or disconnect the cable from the back of your computer.
3) Re-launch Easy Media Creator 9 and the application that needs to be activated.
4) Activation will fail, but this time, choose to Activate Offline.
5) In the Offline Product Activation window, copy the product 25 Digit product key listed in orange. Do not close this window.
6) Turn on your modem or reconnect to the internet.
7) Go to http://activation.roxio.com/activateme and follow the on-screen instructions. This will generate an Activation Code that you must copy.
8) Go back to the Offline Product Activation window and enter the Activation Code into the boxes.

Listen, thanks for your help but im getting nowhere I cant even find an offline activation window.
I hate nero ans now i hate roxio. You buy their products and half the time they dont work or you have to jump through hoops. they would never tell you up front how much garbage you have to go through to make the program work. I sure there are other programs that are better.

All that is saying is pull out your internet connection, start EMC and whatever it is that called up the mpeg activation

When it fails (no connection) then you get the manual activation window.

You have to have it try and fail to connect first
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

You think XP was a bargain? Talk about instability. Roxio claims Easy Creator is vista ready. Yeah, ready for the dump. Take roxio and nero and make a bunch of coasters out of them. This was the last time I'll buy either one of those products.

Now let me see - you tried different CD writing programs; they all burn coasters. Not think that may be telling you something?

Don't "throw your toys out of the pram" yet.

I was where you are way back in December (mad as hell and going nowhere).

After much patience and following the advice of these guys (and gals) I got my problems, at the time, sorted.

Not every suggestion worked but I kept going. (As I remember it took a couple of weeks and much stress).

Sorry if I sound patronising but "keep going"

Which part of your message is incorrectly quoted?

"...Take roxio and nero and make a bunch of coasters out of them. This was the last time I'll buy either one of those products...."

YOU said that BOTH Roxio and Nero won't work - so the fault has to lie elsewhere. If TWO unrelated products fail, look at the common ground, in this case the OS or something else you have installed

If your problem is the mpeg2 registration (which was the original query), try here

http://forums.suppor...showtopic=12074

If it's regarding the dla driver, that is being worked on.

One suggestion which seems to have worked for some people is, that if you do not use Drag to Disc, that you remove that using the add/remove programs (it's a seperate entry)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I don't mind trying different things to make the program work. I just don't appreciate the sarcasm of some people. I'm on this forum to find solutions not get wasteful replies.
