The myDVD tool is crashing upon startup.

I purchased the following DVD Drive - MadDog multimedia 18x Triple Format Internal DVD-RW
The h/w included Roxio Creator:
Roxio Creator 8.2 XE
Version: 8.2.220
Build: 822B20C, MDM

Installed the program without any problem, but the following occurred when I went to create a DVD:
a) Started Roxio Creator 8.2
:) From the toolbar area, I selected:
c) DVD & Video
d) "Create or Edit DVD project"

The following then occurred:
e) "Please wait, loading components" dialog popped up
f) The MyDVD 8 window appeared
g) the tool crashed without selecting any menu items

Other info:
I'm running XP - Home Edition - SP2
CPU - 1.1 GHz
RAM - 512 MB
I've already tried to uninstall and then reinstall. I turned off all anti-virus apps with no change in results.

Here are the excerpts of the error log saved after the crash.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you install Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11?

Both those will wreck EMC 7 and 8

There have been problems btw with the Maddog stuff - but support for that is supposed to come from them

Yes, I am running Internet Explorer 7. I'll try uninstalling it. Thanks for the tip.

A lot were caught out by that 'update'

If you like the feel of a tabbed browser, most of us here are using Firefox - it's free

I did uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and still had the same results. Any other ideas out there would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you tried contacting Maddog on this?

Unfortunately I've no way of knowing what alterations may have been made to the program (OEM variants do vary a lot as they are modified for the maker)

Yes, I contacted the OEM (Mad Dog Multimedia) and am awaiting their reply.

I just noticed a similar thread related to Mad Dog and problems with creating DVD's in the "Install/Uninstall/Update" subforum within the EMC 8 forum. Seems that others have experienced the similar issues.

There does seem to be a problem with it - I've seen posts elsewhere on the web relating to the drive
