I have an avi file that I would like to put on a dvd to play in a standalone player.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks

The most successful way I have found is to open MyDVD.In Menu Tasks click add new movie.Find your file and add it.You can then do things like edit, change styles or whatever.Once you have that, click on burn. When the box pops up check the part that says burn to file and uncheck your burner. This creates an ISO file.Once the process is complete close MyDVD and open Disc Copier.Go to the CD and DVD tab.Add the iso file and click copy.Make sure your DVD burner is checked when the burn box pops up and when it finishes you should have your DVD.

And if you don't need to edit and a quickie menu, there is always the Video Compilation mode in Disc Copier.

Also be aware that if that is a DivX AVI file, it may not fit on a 4.7gig disc depending on the length of the video. DivX files must be converted to MPEG2 which is not as compressed making the file larger.

In trying to do what the two of you have suggested, I found that I have EMC7 Basic, not EMC8. So I do not have MyDVD, and my Disc Copier does not seem to have a compilation mode. Any ideas, or should I just post in the EMC7 forum.

Thanks

In v7, you use DVD Builder to author dvd's. Try that.

I tried that last night. I added the avi file, then clicked Burn, but when I viewed the DVD all I saw on the screen was the menu. I could hear the audio playing in the background correctly, but there was no video.

Thanks

By the way, after I've loaded the avi file into DVD Builder, the Production Editor below just shows it as a black screen. And when go I to preview, I can not seem to get it to play at all.

The avi plays OK in Windows Media Player.

Thanks
