I got the latest version of Easy Media Creator 8.05 up and running. I am trying to use it to do one-step conversion of analog video to DVD. I can see the video preview from my Hauppauge MCE-150 video capture card and can change the channels. However, when I switch to S-video or composite video nothing happens.
This is the whole reason I bought the program.
Any ideas?

Then you may be disappointed. Analog capture isn't well supported. If you click on Customer Service, there is a link somewhere of tested analog capture cards. If the Hauppauge drivers are Microsoft certified, they should work. However, most people have to use the software that came with their capture cards which has been specifically designed for the hardware.

I was able to change input settings with Sonic MyDVD (I think version 5)that came free with my computer. I was even able to burn a DVD. Since this program includes an upgraded version of myDVD I thought it would also work.

I remember during the beta testing the same thing came up with most all of the Hauppauge cards. It got better, but never quite worked right. Last I heard they were still looking into it, so maybe it will be fixed in an update eventually. Some capture cards, like the Hauppauge ones, can be very proprietary in how they work. It's usually easier to use the software they provide (or one designed specifically for it) to capture your videos to use in EMC8. At least for now.

My PVR500 seems to record ok but I can't hear anything while watching.  It's definitely  not 100%.

MyDVD Version 6 and older were written by Sonic. MyDVD 8 was totally rewritten after the merger with Roxio. MyDVD8 roots are based more on the Roxio code.
