MyDVD 9 Deluxe bug? With more than one Movie in project when chapters are used. Only the 1st movie starts on Chapter 1

I've been seeing a problem with when outputting a project from MyDVD in 9 Deluxe, where when I add more than one movie to the project, then mark chapters on each movie, only the "First" movie starts at the beginning when played. The second one starts on Chapter 2, the third (and the 4th thru 7th movies also) starts on chapter 3. I only used 3 Chapters per movie, so not sure if movie 4 would have started on chapter 4 or not, but it seems logical that it might follow that pattern.
I outputted to Video Folders, ISO, and disc. Played back on PC and Set Top player. All behaved the same way.
I varied the project from 2 videos up to 7 videos, and they varied from 4 min to 43 min in length each (switched to the small ones for testing this).
They were all .mpg (mpeg 2) files recorded using my WinTV pvr. They work fine in EMC 7/7.5, 8 deluxe, and DVDit 6 pro (standard and HD)
I tried using different menu styles, some that were in 8 and worked and some that are new in 9 deluxe.
Tried rendering using Hardware and Software settings (even tho the movies are being smart rendered) since the menu gets encoded each time.
MyDVD was started using the Start -> Programs method, not thru the Home app.
Chapters were marked using both methods. Markers under edit movie, and using the mark chapters window.
AV was disabled, ran spyware checks before hand. Made sure DirectX9 was the latest (2/2007).

Using MyDVD I added 3 separate Titles then created chapters for all three. I then 'burned' to a Folder and used Disc Copier to burn to disc.
When played each Title started at its' beginning and all had chapters which I was able to jump to.
The picture below shows the chapter structure of the Folder for all three Titles.

No, it is a bug that has been reported to Roxio. No known fix that I have seen.

Although I had a few other problems and issues with MyDVD in EMC9.1 Deluxe - I did not have this problem.
The last small project I did had 2 titles - and I inserted a number of chapters in each one, and they seemed to play just fine. Of course the "trim" feature refuses to work in my system, but that is another story.

How did you preview the image/video folder set? The chapters work fine if you play back the image/video folder set using the Preview of MyDVD, or play it back using the Preview of Disc Copier. I get the problem when I played it back using a DVD player (in my case, PowerDVD on my PC).

I previewed from within MyDVD, and played back the output files/folders I created from the run via PowerDVD - and it plays fine in both cases (ie. both titles 1 and 2 start from chapter 1).
Notes: used EMC9.1, WinXP/sp2, chapters added within MyDVD to source .vob files, user created menus to select each title individually, output to video_ts folder/files, burned from there. This is also the same project where the "trim" feature refuses to work, and fast forwarding or scanning through the source .vob's locks up the machine.

The problem exists in EMC 10, also. It was never fixed, going from 9 to 10.

That is a good find, if it works consistently. Thanks for posted your resolve.

Mark, I hope to God this works for me as I've wasted a few DVDs as it is! My only question is - when you say 're-select' chapter 1, you mean click on it again, even though it already says 1? (as opposed to changing it from another chapter number, which it doesn't)

In the workaround where it says to right click the Title and choose Show Settings I assume you are speaking of the Titles listed in the Menus tab? I am working with menu-less DVDs and thus all I have are the Movie files under the Movies tab. The Menus tab is deactivated and I cannot seem to find any way to select the Starts At option mentioned in the workaround. I am assuming this is attached to the Title object versus the Movie object. How can I prevent this chapter skipping issue in a no-menu DVD project?
Thanks.

It doesn't matter which "tab" really, as one can still select each movie/title from either tab. I think what you are doing is a unique situation tho. I've never seen anyone post, and haven't done it myself, where there are multiple movies/titles in a "no menu" project.
Since the settings the option that needs to be set isn't available on a no menu project, I can't think of any way to get around it other than to select the option of adding all of the video files as a single movie, rather than individual movies. Either that, or add them all to a Videowave project first (that way you can make sure they play in the order you want), then select the single Videowave project when starting a new no menu MyDVD project.

I ended up having to use IFOedit to fix the problem. If you add the unlinked 'Play All' button last; the code which calls it will be in the main Video's IFO file.
Go in and in the pre commands just prior to the decision structure which compares general virtual registers 14 and 15, add a specific set of register 2 to a value of 1. This will cause the code in the underlying menu templates to ignore the setting in register 14 (which is a title number in the main menu, but is a chapter number for the underlying template!).
If you want, you can add a specific reset of register 2 to 0 in the final pre commands. In my project this was unnecessary since there is a general reset of register values 0,1,2 prior to returning to the main menu.
