Hi

I just bought Toast 8 but cannot get farther than encode 0%. I've got a G5 10.4.8 and QuickTime Pro 7.1.3, so everything should be okay ...
I can load my video files from a Sony digital camera, the same as I did with version 7, but once I start the recording process, everything stops at Encoding 0% and freezes. If I try to abort the process, Toast does no longer respond and I have to use Force Quit.
I reloaded version 6, which was always more stable (7 only behaved if I did not load the latest upgrade) and tried again. It did the entire encoding of about 3 GB material in a full 2,5 hours ! and then said - sorry, could not write to disc, OS X error, however with no further information.

I'd be glad for any suggestions on how to solve the problem as my friends are waiting for DVDs with their concert ...

Please describe the steps you used to get the video into Toast. Is this a DV camcorder, a DVD camcorder or a digital 8 camcorder? Is the video on an internal or external hard drive? The problem appears to be Toast 8's inability to read the imported video file.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
