I upgraded from emc 7.5 to 8 and now I cannon unplug and plug back in my dvd burner from my laptop without the usb ports freezing up on me.  Once I disconnect I have to restart my computer to regain control of the burner.  Did not have this problem in 7.5.  Tried uninstalling software and going back to 7.5 but then I did not have ability to use either of my burners, the external dvd or the biult in cd.  Had to reinstall 8 to get ability to use each of them.  Not sure what to do.  I have upgraded to 8.05 but this did nothing to help my problem.

I have a 1.6GHz Pentium M processor with Windows XP SP2
Norton Internet Security 2005
Programs running include:
Norton Password manager
Weatherbug
Advanced System Optimizer by Systweak

Please anyone with suggestions please let me know what to do

1) Try this hotfix, install and then reboot:
http://tools.roxio.c...c8/rx/rxfix.exe

2) Could be related to Drag-to-Disc, try uninstalling EMC 8 and then reinstalling (with a custom installation) without Drag-to-Disc
