Has ANYONE gotten past this glitch? I want to hear from those who never had a problem to see if setups are to blame somehow.
7.5 I couldn't get to even look at my directory of files to add without it just disapears or throws a Dr. Watson log.
8.0 does better than that, but when the project is assembled it goes to burn and craps out when encoding begins.
I have projects backing up.
Will no one rid me of this troublesome software?

Well, you didn't specify when you are getting that error, so hard to point you in the right direction for things to try exactly.
Have you tried a search on the boards yet for 80004005?
If not, look at these 2 posts I came up with when searching on that number to see if they fit your situation.
If not try a search & see what you come up with.

"the project is assembled it goes to burn and craps out when encoding begins."
In other words, I have my project on screen ready to burn. I click burn. The encoding/burn window comes up for a second or two and quits with this error number.
I have searched and monitored this forum, applied all those patches, and nada. I couldn't even post this before because I wasn't recognized. Finally had to go through customer service to just get here! So I can now submit a question to Support yesterday, no answer yet.
I noticed yesterday someone mentioned you can have 7.5 and 8 on the same machine, so I reinstalled 7, then 7.5. Now back to my old problem in 7.5 where I can't even look at my list of files without the application quitting and generating an error log.
I think I'm throwing good money after bad thinking the next version will be stable, now thinking Roxio isn't so good at this burning stuff much less customer relations.
What other details can I offer to help track down the problem?

For the error in EMC8, if the posts I pointed you to, or any others that you found when searching, didn't help, other than suggesting you check for updates for your video card, sound card, etc to make sure they are current (if you haven't already tried that), I'm fresh out of ideas for now. If someone else has any I'm sure they'll jump in here.
In the meantime, you could try contacting Roxio/Sonic. Maybe that will help. Here's a link to the contact page.

For that navigation thing in 7/7.5, it sounds like an issue that has been mentioned before when a dir or folder has a file(s) in it that something in that file (corruption of some sort) causes EMC not to be able to display the thumbnail, thus 'crashing'. You could try moving some or all of the files from the dir to another and see if that stops the crashing. If moving them all out does, then you can try moving them back in, one or a few at a time until you find the one(s) that is causing it.
