Solution to DVD Burning Problems Burning issues & 80040207 error

Recently I reported not being able to burn a DVD containing ASF files. I got the 80040270 error.
I found that by going to tools/options and then choosing "software rendering" instead of "hardware rendering", my project burned successfully, and I could see the preview just fine. I don't know why I came upon this and tried it. But I'm happy to wrap up my project and to share this discovery.
Maybe this will help someone else who seems to be hitting the wall on burning dvd's.

However, if you had done the diagnostic test in the program, it should have defaulted to software rendering automatically

This is the first mention I have heard of a "diagnostic test". Where is this found? How would the average new user discover it? I've read quite a few posts on this 80040207 error, and you are the first to mention diagnostics. Thank you. If this is common knowledge, I wish I had heard of it two days ago when I posted on this error code. It didn't draw enough interest for a single reply... even from Roxio support.

My whole point in starting this thread was to encourgage those who experience the 80040207 balk-at-burning problem to go to this "application setting" screen and manually choose "softwear rendering."
Thanks for including the screen print for others to view.

It's strange tho that it is pushing you to hardware render - but stick with software if that works.
The only drawback will be you won't get the 3d transitions or some other transitions

Search for 80040207 and see what else has been tried and what worked

1. Graphics card capable of task
2. Upgrade drivers for same
3. Defrag h/d
4. IE7 not installed
5. Directx9c
6. Registry cleaned
I did this.
After compiling my production in MyDVD by building the menus, adding the movies and saving to the spot of my choice on the hard drive I shut down all programs and restarted my computer.
After restart I went to Windows Explorer and found the file I saved and double clicked on it. It will open in MyDVD, bypassing having to open it through Roxio. At that point I burnt my production to an iso file. This rendered OK without a 80040207 error.
From there I went to Disc Copier and was able to burn a good disc.
Maybe it was just a coincidence but what the hell..........it worked this one time anyway.
Let me know of any success.
