I just copied a tape using the lp and tape recorder I now want to open in in sound editor but since it is in wav format and not .dmse I am unable to do this I am using Roxio 9. is there a way to convert it to a dmse file format or do I have to burn it to a cd then import it.

Select the "Add Audio File" command to work on the wav file.

Don't consider it a new project.  Just use the  "Add Audio File " on the left side of the application page.  Does your application page look like this?
