Hallo,
Although I can capture in Windows M.M. Roxio will not capture.  The Video 8 tape is played in a Sony video Hi8 CCD-TR750E, sent to a Sony HandycamDCR-HC40E that converts the analog signal to Digital which it outputs to the computer by Firewire. I import this DV-AVI file into Roxio to edit. I wonder if the reason is known why Roxio does not capture it? :)
Thank you for any thoughts in advance

I think there have been problems with Sony cameras in that regard - you need to use their s/w to capture and do as you have been doing by importing the captured file into DVD editing.

There have been problems when you use the analog to digital converter.

Some models have to have a tape in the camera and you have to start the record, then immediately stop it and then it will capture.

Frankly, I haven't tried it with my new Sony Handycam, but I never did get Roxio capture to work with my older Handycam.   I still have an older Roxio program  Movie Creator that capture is easily.

As long as you use the firewire connection and are able to capture with another program at the best settings, I'd suggest you use that.
