Programs don't write their output to a specific printer. They just pass along a standardized output to the printer object and the printer is controlled via the driver.

Thanks for the info. I have sent a request to Canon. After my post I was able to print a test page from Label Creator but still could not print the label. I can however print the labels from my laptop over a home network through the desktop pc (that I am having problems with) to the Canon printer. Could it sitll be a driver problem with the desktop pc?

Sometimes the thing does get mixed up and thinks the wrong printer is selected and thinks it's offline

Good point. however I would have thought that the other Roxio functions would also try to access the old printer. I will check it later today.

All the printer settings are correct on the desktop. The old Canon i850 printer was completely removed and in Label Creator there is only the option for the new MP600 printer. I performed a repair function with the Roxio CD and attempted to remove/reinstall Label Creator (which cannot be done w/o removing the whole program). I also removed and reinstalled the printer drivers and software. After spending 2 hrs with Canon tech support, I determined that the problem must be with Roxio since I can print the label file from a laptop on the home network via the desktop pc in question. On the laptop, you can see the file being sent to the printer queue; on the desktop Roxio appears to send the file out but it never gets to the printer queue.
My next step would be to reload Roxio and therefore rebuild all of the settings/preferences. Instead I decided to download the free Memorex labeling software- I think that it will be easier to use and hopefully more stable than Label Creator.

Why it's vanishing in a puff of blue smoke between the program output and the printer is a total mystery to me.
I do btw have a similar problem on my Linux box - everything works except the actual printing - the queue starts, ends - ink levels get reported (just no squiggles on the paper)
Maybe someday I'll figure THAT one out
