My CD/DVD drive is supposed to be able to burn at 48X FOR CDs.
I have Roxio 71.0.220ENU.
My CD/DVD Drive is a HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H21N.
I have the program set to burn at 48X, my CDs are 48X but I only get burn speeds of 5.8X.
This happens whether recording MP3 files, Data files or standard CD files.
Making and using a disk image does not help either.
My computer is a Dell DM051 running Windows XP multi-media edition.
Any Ideas?
Slow Burning

Check that the drive is set to DMA in properties - and not PIO
I'm not sure of the BIOS in your Dell but sometimes it says there what mode the drives are in - if it's possible to force it to DMA from there, fine, otherwise go to control panel, system, device manager, ide controllers. There should be one for the ide - if this shows PIO in transfer mode, change it to DMA

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
