I have recently installed EMC9, and i seem to be having a problem with slideshow. I go through the whole process but when I try to create a file (any type) or even burn a CD it hangs at 0%. My PC Specs are
Dell Dimension 8400
P4 3.2 GHx
128 MB ATI Radeon X300
300 GB HD
2 GB RAM
Windows Media Center 2003 with the latest updates
I have updated my graphics card to the latest drivers from ATI and I am using the latest DirectX version (9c).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Are you using Videowave to make your project? Are you using transitions or any effects? Sometimes these cause problems. Also, you might have a corrupted jpeg or two.
Please explain how you are making your slideshow.

I tried the create slideshow option under photos initially, but after that did not work I tried Videowave. Both had the same problem of hanging while encoding (i think that is what it does initially). In both cases there are transistions and audio files (mp3) associated.

Let's do a little trouble shooting:
Where did you get the mp3's? If they are from an on-line store, they won't work and that might be the cause of the problem. Remove them for now.
In VideoWave, go to the top menu, select tools then options. Put the dot near software render. You will lose the 3D and some page turn transitions. Create a short slide show using those images
Try outputting that project to a mpg2 for DVD file (film reel icon). If it hangs, note when and go back to the production to see what is causing the problem.
What kind of timing are you using for your images and transitions? Remember the transition does take up some of the image display time. If you have an image displayed for 4 seconds and transitions on both sides set to four seconds, then the image essentially has a zero display time. This will cause problems.

azaouk, I had the same exact problem and read in another thread to update my graphics card drivers. My first thought was "how will my video drivers affect encoding?", but I figure what can it hurt so I went to Nvidia's website and installed the latest driver and lo and behold, everything works without hanging.
You might want to try updating your video drivers as well. When I did so it went through a hardware calibration screen when I first ran VideoWave, I did not notice it go through this calibration before. Hope this helps.
