I have run into a new problem DVD9 - it had been working great.

I capture a file on my HDD from a VHS source and the file plays fine, and can be burned to a DVD without any problem.  However if I want to edit the video  -- It loads OK when I add video;  I can trim the from beginning and end to my satisfaction – but when I try to save it with my edits to my HDD or burn it to a DVD the system hangs up.  As a quick test I tried the untrimmed version and it worked.  Since I am only using ROXIO, DVD9 utilities for all of my work I am Baffled – any suggestions?

Thanks

Are you saying that after you edit, you are unable to use  "save as" to save the project?  How much free and defraggmented free space do you have on your computer.  What anti-virus?  No matter turn it off, it may be seeing the edited project and blocking it.

Can you "output" the project to a mpg2 for DVD beats quality" file?

How are you cutting off the beginning and end? There are several ways of doing this so it would help if you were a little more technical in describing how you explain this.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Thanks for the quick reply -- as I said this had been working and the problem just occurred.

I do try to save the edited file and that's where I have a problem and perhaps it is the Norton AntiVirus that's doing that--although I am not exactly sure what to turn off other than the whole thing.

I use the trim feature and reset the start and finish (I am quite familiar wiuth that process) using the edit video program of DVD9 and then the trim utility.  I try to save that and that's where the problem is for both saving the produnction and rendering it as an MPEG-2.

I appreciate your input.

Hmmm, interesting. I don't use that trim function. I use the manual cut function. I don't think that how you do it is the issue. How about the free space or outputting the project to a mpg2 file?

Have there been any recent updates to your anti-virus program or other lately? IE 7 or WMP 11? Have you checked for malware with at least two programs lately? I don't use your anti-virus so I don't know how to tweak it.

BTW, If you are doing any video editing, I suggest that you should be disconnect from the internet and have shut down all your running programs including anti-virus and anti-malware.

I don't think it's space because I have a 300GB HDD with 170GB free.  You may have hit on the Norton issue and I will check that and I do keep my IE 7 running so I will try it without that.  The odd thing is that I can save and burn the original file but not the edited file.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I will let the board know if it works and perhaps help someone else.

Shutting down my internet connection and the antivirus program didn't solve it.  The mystery is that the unedited file can be resaved and also burned to a DVD successfully?  So I don't think it's the software. You are probably on the right track re the possible conflict with another program but for the moment it escapes me.

This is really baffling to me because the program was working great.  I use the repair function for the MyDVD 9 Pro that is essentially a re-install but still the same problem.  The fact that I can save and burn the original file that I capture as a DVD HQ MPEG-2,6.5 MBPS and also that the trim works -- I can see it in the trim function -- but I can't save or burn the trimmed file (it just hangs up when I go to the output as/save function.  If the try to save the untrimmed file it works fine.

My system uses am Athion 64 X2 (W) 5000 + 2.6GHZ Processor; 2GB Memory

Any additional suggestions will be welcomed.
